Have you missed me? The bowls season is over now and things are less fraught.

Here’s that potent icon of Barrow the great shipbuilding centre, set against a dramatic evening sky.

Good to see you up and running again! I’m glad I don’t do bowls – it sounds such a stressful activity!

Forgive for using this website for communication. You wrote up some notes on Ulysses some time ago. Are they still available on the web and if so whereabouts, thanks.

Jeff – the ReadalongaRosie series on Ulysses begins here I think I shall collate all of these little articles and publish them all on one list.

I know that advancing decrepitude makes it increasingly hard to lift those damn heavy lawn-bowls – especially if, like the 5th generation set I own, they are made from the very dense ‘lignum vitae tree’ (also called ‘ironwood’) rather than the compact resin versions we can find nowadays. But, would you recommend that I hire the above, or better still a gantry, crane, to lift them in order to participate in a tournament?
