Risedale

Many a Barrovian, including this one, was born in the Risedale Maternity Hospital in Abbey Road. It close in 1981 when the maternity service moved to the shiny new Furness General Hospital.

The building is now part of an old people’s home.

The building is now part of a Creative Choice For Independent Living.

Astute readers will have worked out that this offers many Barrovians the prospect of a nice symmetry to their lives.
