Earnse Bay

Following through from yesterday’s micro-view of Earnse Bay in the form of one of its resident echinoderms, I thought you might appreciate a macro-view of the beach at Earnse Bay, also taken last Saturday when the sun and sea were warm, the tide was way out, and the air just a little hazy. You have to look quite hard to see the familiar whale-back of Black Combe, beyond the Duddon, but on another day you might easily count the sheep grazing on its slopes.

The haze adds to the sleepy, lazy feel of the day, don’t you think? Look how your average Barrovian enjoys being sleepy and lazy close to the road and the scattered rocks, leaving the wide flat sands to me. And the starfish, of course.
