The Marketing Mix

June 5, 2008 at 13:42 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

The marketing folks are salivating over the big Barrow redevelopment enterprise, which is meant to tempt the rich and vacuous to town with the promise of grants and a Legoland waterfront with marinas, ‘luxury’ apartments, glitzy entertainments and nightlife, and other fantasies. In other words, they’re going to ruin our gritty-but-friendly town. Next thing you know, there’ll be beach bars at Biggar Bank. Meh!

Anyway, the “Love ♥arrow” slogan looks like it’s going to be with us for a while. No doubt Furness Enterprise paid enough to the brand consultants anyway. Still, “I ♥ NY” worked (and what’s not to love about New York?) and “glasgowsmilesbetter” did a grand job on a city with a lot more reputation than it deserved, so iy may not be as bad as it seems.

  1. Here is their website.

  2. I forgot to put the first part of that up!

Which is: There are a whole host of Tasmanian made/owned products that use the slogan (with standardised font) of “Love this [insert blank]”.

Thus you can see anything from “Love this island”, to “Love this dog food”, “Love this park”, or “Love this wheelbarrow”.
