Euro Market

Euro Market

Barrow has been playing host to a market this weekend, in front of the Town Hall (strictly speaking it’s behind the Town Hall but that’s because the Town Hall turns its back on the town centre’s main thoroughfare.) In the past there have been French markets and German markets, but this one seems to be rolling them all in together – there’s a German and a Belgian flag in the photo and there was a French one out of shot. I don’t know why they feel the need to do this – we are Europeans ourselves of course, despite what a few dyed-in-the-wool Little Englanders and rabid tabloid “newspapers”! might say.

Me, I’ve been out of town, in Nottingham for my birthday, so I didn’t get a chance to look round.

  1. Happy Birthday Rosie!

  2. Happy birthday!

I like the idea of a stall with food from all over Europe. I reckon that would be a nice way to pass the day…

  3. I love these kinds of markets and wish we had some of them here.

I suspect the flags act as a marker for the stalls, so you’ll know that it’s a Belgian stall before you even get to it.

Hope you enjoyed your birthday thoroughly!
