Arthur Street revisited

November 11, 2008 at 17:58 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Heavens, is it really more than six months since I posted about the plight of Arthur Street, which the Tory-run council wants to demolish to let their chums the property developers make a killing (and in the process drive out a slice of the Great Unwashed, who have lived here as a thriving community for generations but who won’t be able to afford the new houses however shoddy they are.)

Well, I have revisited Arthur Street. Yesterday it was, because today has been too foul to got out to take pictures. The news, as you see, is not good. Most of these perfectly sound houses have been vacated and boarded up now. Just a few locals remain, holding out against the siege, but it looks like the council and the developers will soon have their wicked way.

It makes a girl so bloody angry…
